Apprenticeships combine work-based experience with training and generally last between one and four years.
They normally lead to a qualification, such as a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ); this is normally at Level 2, or Level 3 for Advanced Apprenticeships and Level 4 for Higher.
Apprenticeships start at 16 years old, there is no upper age limit.
The government fully funds apprenticeship training costs for 16 to 18-year-olds and provides up to 50% training costs for 19 to 24-year-olds. It also contributes to training costs for people aged 25 years and over who meet certain criteria.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Southampton City Council’s Apprenticeship Action Plan 2014-2016 is a drive to increase the number of apprenticeships in the city and to invest in recognising and rewarding graduate Apprentices at the annual graduation ceremony.
The Southampton Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony 2016 showcases Apprentice’s achievements and will take place at the historic O2 Southampton Guildhall on Monday, 17 October.
The inaugural 2015 ceremony, organised by Southampton City Council, was a great success with over 300 people attending to celebrate 114 Apprentices’ achievements.
Plans are underway to make this year’s event even bigger and better and to achieve this we are inviting local businesses to support the awards through sponsorship.

Why Sponsor?

A sponsorship will provide significant brand exposure and demonstrate your commitment to apprenticeships and local business growth in the area.
The Southampton Apprenticeships Awards Ceremony 2016 recognises inspirational employers, training providers and showcases apprentices’ efforts and attainments.
We are calling on local businesses to collectively support this year’s ceremony through by opting for one of the sponsorship packages available.
